It’s shaping up to be impressively expensive, too.
Released just today as a research preview, Claude Design can create web page prototypes, app wireframes, pitch decks, marketing materials, and other digital products from scratch, using nothing but a prompt. You can then export the results into a variety of formats (such as ZIP, PPTX, HTML, and PDF files) or hand them off to Canva or Claude Code.
Powered by the Claude model of your choice–Anthropic’s latest, Opus 4.7, is recommended–Claude Design might seem like yet another AI tool designed to replace humans, but my guess is that its true potential could only be unlocked by a human.
Sure, you can use Claude Design the way I did–just plug in a simple prompt and see what happens–but you’ll probably get the best and most distinctive results by feeding it an existing codebase and design assets. That means if you have an existing online business, you can share your site’s code with Claude Design as well as some representative graphical files, allowing Claude to get a sense of the look and feel you’re aiming for.
To make the most of your Claude Design spend, you’d also want to give it as many specifics as possible about the result you want–and again, this is where a human designer’s eye would come in handy. The more precise you can be with Claude Design at the beginning, the fewer iterations you’ll have to go through at the end.
Anyway, back to my experience with Claude Design–and I’ll tell you right now, I’m no designer.
Starting off with Claude Design (which, during its preview period, you access on the web), you’re presented with a tabbed chatbox for submitting an initial prompt. The tabs include options for a new prototype and a slide deck, as well as the ability to start from (or create) a template. You can also add your company name, link a GitHub repo, connect a local folder, or upload design assets like fonts and logos.
I took the barebones approach, starting from zero and submitting a simple prompt: “Let’s create an interactive graphic that explains AI tokens to everyday users.”
Claude chewed on that for a bit that then peppered me with a battery of multiple-choice questions: Who’s the target audience for this graphic? (Total beginners, curious but non-technical adults, and students were among the answers I could pick.) What format might be best? What kind of interactions did I want? What should the overall style be (New York Times-style editorial, cartoonish)? How expansive should the graphic be?
Answering those questions took about a minute, and then Claude Design sketched out its overall approach — a clean editorial explainer (“NYT/Pudding feel, serif headlines, generous whitespace, one accent color”), devised a list of five project milestones, then dove right in.

Claude may have some follow-up questions for you after submitting a Claude Design prompt. Ben Patterson/Foundry
My Claude conversation moved into a left-hand sidebar as the actual work began, while the right side of the webpage turned into a large canvas, where I could see Claude’s work in progress. Tabs at the top of the canvas let me view various versions of the project (Claude Design can create multiple variations at once) as well as browse the actual project files.
Within five minutes, Claude Design had created a draft for me–a handsome-looking webpage that takes you through AI tokens step-by-step, including interactive sections where you can type in words and watch the token count in real time. The copy was clear, friendly, snappy, and–as far as I could tell–accurate. It was pretty much just what I wanted, all in the first shot.
Overall, it took Claude Design roughly 25 minutes to complete three variations of its AI token-explainer prototype. Pretty impressive.
But then I saw my Claude usage meter. I’m on the Claude Pro plan–which, to be fair, is best suited for individual and everyday users like me, not a business looking to prototype an app or a website–and quickly realized that I’d already blown through 80 percent of my weekly Claude Design allowance. (For now, Claude Design usage appears to be counted separately from your overall weekly Claude quota.)

Claude created this cool interactive element to go along with my token-explainer webpage.Ben Patterson/Foundry
Then came a misunderstanding plus a big mistake on my part. Trying to click from one prototype variation to another and hitting a plain-text “preview token required” warning (turns out Claude hadn’t hard-coded the variations into a single HTML file), I mistook the “undo” button for the back button, instantly zapping all Claude’s work. “The undo wiped everything. I need to rebuild all files from scratch.” Claude calmly told me.
Eyeing my nearly empty Claude usage gauge, I downshifted the model to the cheaper Sonnet 4.6 as Claude cleaned up my mess. Five minutes later though, my weekly Claude Design meter hit zero.
Luckily, Anthropic recently handed out overage credits to Claude users (following the company’s decision to block Claude subscription users from using OpenClaw and other third-party AI agents without using the Claude API), which allowed me to top-off the tank and finish the designs. But even had I not blundered into wiping my Claude Design files, I wouldn’t have made it far into the review process before my quota ran out.
The finished product looked impressively polished given that I’m not a designer and gave Claude Design only the barest of directions. But yes, we’re talking another token-hungry Claude product here, one that Pro users in particular will barely be able to use before burning through their usage limits.
PCWorld
I tried Claude Design for half an hour. The most exciting development I’ve seen in years is rear-mounted connections. But Cougar’s new MX600 MAX RGB case caught my eye as a PC builder focused on utility and performance. The fans are big, and the ports are bigger.
The standard ATX design bucks trends with two massive 200mm fans right on the front air intake panel. That might not seem like much, but by my calculations that’s more than double the fan surface area of a standard 2x140mm fan setup, and still a 33 percent increase over a 3x140mm intake. Add in a ramped cover for the bottom-mounted power supply and you’ve got a nice bit of airflow pointed straight at your GPU. Top-mounted radiators of up to 360mm are supported, and you can even double up on the bottom fans above the PSU, though those will be just 120mm. GPU support extends to a massive 400mm.

Cougar
But size isn’t everything. According to Cougar’s promotional site, the 200mm PWM fans each operate at a maximum of 1,000 RPM, pushing 140.4 cubic feet per minute (CFM). Compare that to a standard 140mm fan from Corsair, which maxes out at 95.5 CFM according to its specs. Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from installing any other 200mm fan that prioritizes speed or quiet—those big blades mean you can lower the RPM to move the same amount of air at a lower noise level.
Elsewhere, the MX600 offers a few other tricks, though no options for 5.25-inch drives. (You can’t fit them around those massive fans!) Storage is mounted behind the motherboard tray with room for up to four 2.5-inch drives or just two 3.5-inch ones. Speaking of the motherboard, yes, you can fit rear-facing connectors in there for ultra-sleek cable routing, though I’d double-check precisely where those ports are on your motherboard. There’s also a fan controller back there.

Cougar
The inside isn’t the only place where you’ve got movable port options. The MX600’s front I/O panel features two USB-A ports, USB-C 3.2, and an audio jack. Pretty basic. But it can be moved around, swapping from the bottom of the case to the top as needed.

Both the black and white versions of the case can move these I/O ports around.Cougar
That’s. Freakin’. Huge. At least for me, because I use a standing desk and mount my PC underneath it, both for easy access and to keep the cables nice and organized on a moving surface. If a case has I/O ports mounted in a non-standard place like the top, I can’t really use it. Things get awkward if they’re on the bottom, too—I have to step away from my desk to plug anything in. For my Fractal Design North, I have to awkwardly plug in a mobile dock and tape it to the bottom of my desk’s surface, just so I don’t have to scrape my knuckles to get at the USB ports.
Cougar solved this problem. This case isn’t as stylish as my North—I don’t want to look at my desktop’s guts, so I wish it had a standard steel side option, and I don’t need fancy RGBs. But dang, between that cooling performance and the option to move the front I/O panel around, I might just have to buy it and migrate everything over.
Of course, I’ll have to actually find one first. Cougar hasn’t announced a price or release date for this case, though it will come in black or white. Cougar’s other airflow-focused cases, without fancy “fish tank” glass or screens mounted on them, cost between $80 and $140.
PCWorld
Cougar’s new PC case has a trick I want everyone to steal
https://www.pcworld.com/article/3117361/cougar-mx600-max-pc-case-has-a-trick-i-want-everyone-to-steal.html
https://www.pcworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/image_49c387.png?w=1024
Amazon today has the AirPods Pro 3 available for $199.99, down from $249.00. SNK and Plaion Replai, who is also behind the all-black remake of the Commodore 64, announced a faithful remake of the high-end retro console, called the Neo Geo AES+.

To bring the original console into the modern day, the collaborating companies added HDMI compatibility for resolutions up to 1080p and DIP switches on the bottom of the console to allow for language selection, overclocking and switching display modes. Rounding out the upgrades, SNK and Plaion Replai included a permanent way to retain high scores on a memory card and a low-power usage mode. For the purists out there, the Neo Geo AES+ still works on those chunky CRT displays since it has the original AV output.
Preorders are currently open for two versions of the Neo Geo AES+, including an all-white 35th anniversary edition bundle that includes an Arcade Stick, a limited-edition Metal Slug game cartridge and a memory card, for $349.99. The standard edition in classic black will only come with an arcade stick, but will be available for $249.99. Coinciding with the console release, Replai Plaion will release 10 modernized game cartridges, including Metal Slug, The King of Fighters 2002 and other classics, for $89.99 each. If you think those prices are high, don't forget the original Neo Geo AES' release price was $649.99. The Neo Geo AES+ is set to start shipping on November 12.This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/gaming/snks-neo-geo-console-remake-works-with-original-cartridges-and-hdmi-194509442.html?src=rss
Engadget is a web magazine with obsessive daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics
SNK's Neo Geo console remake works with original cartridges and HDMI
https://www.engadget.com/gaming/snks-neo-geo-console-remake-works-with-original-cartridges-and-hdmi-194509442.html?src=rss
https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/iUfkEaOgf6gaWXbyl_stIg--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTEyMDA7aD02NzU-/https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2026-04/fcd07730-3b57-11f1-b8db-e4927a6690ac
A judge has granted the makers of the "ICE Sightings - Chicagoland" Facebook group and the Eyes Up app a preliminary injunction to stop the Trump administration from coercing platforms to take these projects down. The federal agency ruled against reinstating an import ban on Apple Watches, allowing the tech giant to continue selling its devices with a reworked blood-oxygen monitoring technology.
The ITC decided to terminate the case and refer to a preliminary ruling from one of its judges in March that claimed that Apple's redesigned smartwatches don't infringe on patents held by Masimo, the medical tech company that has long been embroiled in lawsuits surrounding the Apple Watch. Apple thanked the ITC in a statement, adding that "Masimo has waged a relentless legal campaign against Apple and nearly all of its claims have been rejected." We reached out to Masimo for comment and will update the story when we hear back.
The latest decision could offer some closure to the longstanding legal feud between Masimo and Apple. The patent battle dates back to 2021 with Masimo's first filing against Apple that requested an import ban on Apple Watches. The ITC ended up ruling that Apple violated Masimo's patents, resulting in the previous import ban and the Apple Watch maker redesigning the blood-oxygen reading feature in certain models. However, Masimo wasn't satisfied with this conclusion and sought another import ban on the updated Apple Watch models. Now that the ITC has ruled against that, Masimo is left with the option to appeal the decision with the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
While Masimo may currently be on the losing side of this legal battle, it's confronting Apple on multiple fronts. In November, a federal jury sided with Masimo and ruled that Apple has to pay $634 million in a separate patent infringement case. This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/wearables/apple-avoids-a-second-import-ban-for-its-redesigned-smartwatches-in-latest-court-ruling-175600668.html?src=rss
Engadget is a web magazine with obsessive daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics
Apple avoids a second import ban for its redesigned smartwatches in latest court ruling
https://www.engadget.com/wearables/apple-avoids-a-second-import-ban-for-its-redesigned-smartwatches-in-latest-court-ruling-175600668.html?src=rss
https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/aovsCloNuVInEWGqxZyIVA--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTEyMDA7aD04MDA-/https://s.yimg.com/os/creatr-uploaded-images/2026-04/16b47560-3b4a-11f1-b3b3-72dab2e8ad9e
The US Department of Justice is siding with X, as the social media platform owned by Elon Musk navigates a criminal investigation unfolding in France. There's a new PBS documentary now streaming on YouTube that dives into the Artemis program and the latest efforts to send humans to the moon again. Also this week, NASA shared some awesome images of a comet flying into the sun, the nonprofit American Rivers released its annual report on the most endangered rivers in the US and ESA posted a throwback image of Mars to highlight some interesting changes down on the surface. Here are the science stories that caught our attention this week. A comet grazes too close to the sunEarlier this month, a recently discovered comet made a close approach to the sun — but it couldn't handle the heat. NASA has shared incredible images of the encounter that took place on April 4, showing the comet exploding into dust as it swings around our star. As NASA notes in a social media post, this was "its first and last observed flyby of the Sun."The comet, C/2026 A1 (also known as MAPS) was first spotted on January 13 of this year. As it neared the sun, it was observed by a slew of instruments: NASA and ESA's SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) spacecraft, NASA's STEREO (Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory) and NASA's PUNCH (Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere). This allowed for views of its passage from multiple angles. Seen in a narrow-field coronagraph view captured by SOHO, the comet appears to plunge directly into the sun. But, the wide view from NASA's STEREO shows it actually swinging closely around the sun before breaking apart. 🧵2/4This close-up coronagraph view from NASA/ESA’s SOHO spacecraft shows comet C/2026 A1 (MAPS) approaching the Sun on April 4. After the comet passes behind the disk, only a cloud of dust emerges. pic.twitter.com/PbkzqPnZ5F— NASA Solar System (@NASASolarSystem) April 16, 2026
MAPS was one of a family of comets aptly called Kreutz sungrazing comets, and according to Karl Battams, the principal investigator for SOHO’s coronagraph, its destruction occurred likely several hours before what would have been its closest approach. Potomac named most endangered river in the USThe nonprofit conservation organization American Rivers has released its 2026 report on the most endangered rivers in the country, and data centers play a major role in the status of its top pick. According to American Rivers, the Potomac River is the most endangered in the US due both to the threat of sewage pollution from aging pipe systems and the "unprecedented surge in data center development" in its vicinity. The Potomac River basin spans parts of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, DC. In January, the catastrophic failure of the Potomac Interceptor wastewater pipe in Montgomery County, Maryland dumped hundreds of millions of gallons of untreated sewage into the Potomac River and the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal, causing bacteria levels to hit over 4,000 times the safe recreational limit at sites closest to the incident, according to the report. The Potomac Interceptor is over 60 years old, and is just one of many in the region that is at or past the 50-year service life, American Rivers notes. On top of that, data center development in places like Virginia and Maryland has skyrocketed, which could put a strain on local water and energy sources. Data centers also have potential to cause further pollution to the river. "The region currently has over 300 data centers and is on track to have a total of about 1,000 centers occupying roughly 200 million square feet of buildings — enough to cover 3,472 football fields — on an estimated 20,000 acres of land," the report explains. "These facilities pose a significant and growing threat to both water quality and water quantity, yet are being approved without meaningful transparency, regulatory review, and assessment of cumulative impacts."The organization is calling for Congress to reauthorize infrastructure funding bills so aging systems can be upgraded, and for regulators in these states to require transparency about data centers' resource use, along with comprehensive environmental assessments before development plans are approved. Mars ash: then vs nowESA/DLR/FU BerlinThe European Space Agency this week shared a look at how a region on Mars has changed since it was observed by NASA’s Viking orbiters way back in 1976. New images captured by ESA's Mars Express spacecraft show how dark volcanic ash has encroached upon a swath of land in an area known as the Utopia Planitia basin. If you visit the blog post, you'll find a side by side comparison of images from the two time periods. It's a rare example of an observable change on the surface of the red planet that's occurred over such a short period of time, ESA notes. The agency explains, "The spread of the ash over the last 50 years has two possible explanations: either it has been picked up and moved about by martian winds, or the ochre dust that previously covered the dark ash has been blown away."Before you go, be sure to check these stories out too:The PBS Artemis II documentary is streaming on YouTubeNAACP sues xAI over data center pollutionThere's yet another study about how bad AI is for our brainsThis article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/science/a-comet-gets-destroyed-by-the-sun-data-centers-endanger-the-potomac-river-and-more-science-news-160000714.html?src=rss
Engadget is a web magazine with obsessive daily coverage of everything new in gadgets and consumer electronics
A comet gets destroyed by the sun, data centers endanger the Potomac River, and more science news
https://www.engadget.com/science/a-comet-gets-destroyed-by-the-sun-data-centers-endanger-the-potomac-river-and-more-science-news-160000714.html?src=rss
https://s.yimg.com/ny/api/res/1.2/BN2r4BDOWb3uTQyHFgElNw--/YXBwaWQ9aGlnaGxhbmRlcjt3PTEyMDA7aD02NzU-/https://d29szjachogqwa.cloudfront.net/images/user-uploaded/comet_9746.jpg
https://static0.makeuseofimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2026/04/other-storage-option-in-samsung-galaxy-z-flip-6.jpg?w=1600&h=900&fit=crop
https://static0.makeuseofimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2026/04/watching-a-movie-on-a-laptop.png?w=1600&h=900&fit=crop
The Google Pixel Buds 2a has a case battery that takes mere seconds to remove — it's a game-changer for wireless earbud repairability.
https://static0.makeuseofimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2026/04/pixel-buds-2a-battery-swap-3.jpg?w=1600&h=900&fit=crop
https://static0.makeuseofimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2026/04/ring-sensor-3.jpg?w=1600&h=900&fit=crop
https://static0.makeuseofimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/wm/2026/04/laptop-screen-displaying-the-helium-browser-setup-page.png?w=1600&h=900&fit=crop
The European Investment Fund is raising a €15 billion fund of funds called ETCI 2 that aims to unlock up to €80 billion in scaleup funding across Europe.
